Reno Food Trucks on Thursdays: Your Guide to Glow Plaza

Reno's food truck calendar is a summer calendar, and it has an end date. In 2026, every weekly gathering held in a city or county park had finished by Aug. 26. The one weekly food truck night still running in October is downtown, on a plaza at J Resort on West Fourth Street, and it's listed to continue through the winter.

That changes where a Thursday dinner happens in Reno for the rest of 2026 and into early 2027. Below is what ended, what kept going, what the winter dates are based on, and how to build an evening around it.

The Summer Calendar Ended in August

Reno Street Food expanded to four weekly events this year, and every one of them ran on a set summer schedule. Feed the Camel, the Wednesday gathering on the lawn at McKinley Arts and Culture Center, ran on its own schedule and ended a few weeks later. Here's how the 2026 season wound down:

  1. June 25: Sun Valley Food Truck Thursday, new this year, finished its three limited dates at the old Scolari's lot on Sun Valley Boulevard and Fourth Street.
  2. Aug. 5: Wednesdays at the City of Reno's Cyan Park, on Veterans Parkway and Long Meadow Drive, ended.
  3. Aug. 6: Thursdays at Washoe County's North Valleys Regional Park on Sky Vista Parkway ended.
  4. Aug. 7: Food Truck Friday at Idlewild Park closed its 15th season, which ran 10 weeks starting June 5.
  5. Aug. 26: Feed the Camel held its last Wednesday at 925 Riverside Drive.

Food Truck Friday is the yardstick here. The Reno News & Review called it the city's original and largest street food event, with more than 50 food and drink vendors rotating through Idlewild over the summer. All of those trucks stayed in business after Aug. 7. They just lost their weekly park spot.

The Thursday Night That Started as Summer Ended

The Wanderlust Food Truck Festival opened Thursday, Aug. 20, at J Resort Reno. That was two weeks after Idlewild's last Friday and six days before Feed the Camel's final Wednesday. It's held at the resort's Glow Plaza, 670 W. Fourth St. It runs every Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and there's covered outdoor seating. KOLO's launch coverage described a rotating lineup of more than 15 Northern Nevada food trucks each week, serving burgers, tacos, barbecue, international food, desserts and specialty drinks.

The producer isn't from Reno. Wanderlust already runs food truck events in Murrieta, Lake Elsinore and Palm Springs, and co-founder and director Alexander Yepremian told the Reno News & Review that the vendor list would likely grow or shift before opening night. The 14 local food and beverage vendors confirmed before launch included A Touch of Soul, Chilaquiles and Friends, Doggy Style Korean Corndogs, Sip on the Go and Sipology Sodas.

One name on that list ties the two seasons together. A Touch of Soul was also in Feed the Camel's lineup this summer. The trucks are local, and when the park season ended, at least some of them had a downtown Thursday to go to.

Glow Plaza is an established spot, not one set up for this event. By July 2022, This Is Reno was covering it as a new downtown venue hosting an Artown summer concert series, with food and beverage vendors, seating, cornhole, public art and neon signage. That coverage noted the space was open to the public outside of concerts too. Wanderlust gives the plaza a weekly use for the colder months.

What the Winter Dates Are Based On

The run past October comes from one source, the This Is Reno events calendar. Its listing for the festival reads:

"Wanderlust Food Truck Festival brings a rotating lineup of local and regional food trucks to Glow Plaza at J Resort every Thursday evening through March 2027."

The same listing names specific upcoming dates of Oct. 8, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, each from 5 to 10 p.m. The calendar runs submitted listings, and This Is Reno says it doesn't write or edit them and suggests confirming details with the venue. So the March end date is the organizer's stated plan. No news report has confirmed it yet, and none of the coverage gives an exact final date.

That's still a long stretch compared with this summer's schedules. Idlewild ran 10 weeks. A weekly event that keeps to its listed schedule from Aug. 20 into March would run about seven months, through the part of the year when every park-based gathering is off. Wanderlust posts its lineups and weekly updates on social media, so that's the place to check before going on any particular Thursday.

A Thursday on West Fourth, Hour by Hour

The food trucks cover 5 to 10 p.m., and West Fourth Street fills in the hours before and after. The renovated Gold 'N Silver Inn is farther west on the same street at 790 W. Fourth St. The diner opened in 1956 and closed in 2025 for remodeling after Jacobs Entertainment bought it. It reopened June 11, 2026. This Is Reno described the reopening as a facelift timed to the restaurant's 70th year in Reno. Thursday works especially well there because the Bar & Lounge runs DJ Trivia every Thursday, with prizes for the top three teams.

Here's how one Thursday can come together using posted hours:

Time Where What's posted
4 to 6 p.m. Gold 'N Silver Bar & Lounge, 790 W. Fourth St. First half of the Wednesday-through-Friday double happy hour: $4 cocktails, domestic beer and wine, $7 small bites
5 to 10 p.m. Glow Plaza at J Resort, 670 W. Fourth St. Wanderlust Food Truck Festival, free admission and parking, covered seating
Evening Gold 'N Silver Bar & Lounge Thursday DJ Trivia
9 p.m. to close Gold 'N Silver Bar & Lounge Second happy hour window, same specials
Until about 11:30 p.m. Yuzu Sushi and Bar, 440 N. Virginia St. Kitchen open most nights, cocktails until midnight

The happy hour details and the Thursday trivia come from the Gold 'N Silver's own site. The site's Sunday-through-Thursday hours, posted alongside the trivia promotion, run 2 to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday run 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Those hours are for the Bar & Lounge. The site doesn't give separate current hours for the diner. The Gold 'N Silver was open 24 hours a day under its previous owners, but that schedule shouldn't be assumed after the remodel.

The last stop is downtown. Yuzu Sushi and Bar opened across from Silver Legacy and serves its sushi à la carte, which sets it apart from Reno's all-you-can-eat sushi tradition. The menu includes long rolls, deep-fried rolls, nigiri and sashimi, plus a long sake list, wine, cocktails and Japanese beers. A server told the Reno News & Review that most nights the kitchen serves until 11:30 p.m. and cocktails go until midnight. That's well after the food trucks shut down at 10.

Before Heading Out on a Cold Thursday

The festival launched in late summer, and a few details matter more as fall moves toward winter:

  • Seating: The coverage confirms covered outdoor seating. None of it mentions heaters, so dress for an evening outside.
  • Cost: Admission and parking are both free, so it's easy to stop by for a single dish.
  • Lineup: The trucks change every week, and the organizer posts lineups on social media rather than in a fixed printed schedule.
  • Timing: Service ends at 10 p.m. On Wednesday and Friday, the Gold 'N Silver's late happy hour also starts at 9 p.m., so the walk down West Fourth works on those nights as well, just without the food trucks.
  • Schedule changes: Because the dates through March come from a submitted calendar listing, check Wanderlust's social channels before planning a winter Thursday around it.

The next listed dates are Oct. 8, 15 and 22, each from 5 to 10 p.m. at 670 W. Fourth St.
